An ecstatically stunning behold; the Mirissa Beach with a gentle curve into the land, located south of the island with an orchestra of Palm trees is just a treat to the eyes. The lovely clear water is ideal for snorkelling and surfing as well moving on to the far West wing of the bay.

Unawatuna is said to be one of the best beaches in the island with a rich diversity of marine life just a short drive from Galle. The beach is unique from the path leading to the beach to the serene waters as well.

The beach though may be boring to the sporty surfers, it is ideal for families and kids with the mildly sloping sands that enter into the beach makes is less risky contributed by the small bay that slows the busy waves from roaring offshore.

A broad stretch of sandy beach sea sand on the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka is this spectacular beach just half an hour from Trincomalee. This long stretch of land is quite unspoilt with clear waters and white sand ideal for kids and family.

The beach can be on the hotter side of the country island making its nearly impossible to bask during the mid days, although, the sun rise can be a picturesque site from the East waters. That being mentioned, the location is rich with so many other sites and one such place is the pigeon island.

About half an hour drive North of Galle towards the South Western coast lies one of the most popular beaches; the
Hikkaduwa Beach, one with a long shore and medium size waves enough to start a beginner surfer on their boards. The untouched and stunning corals come in vivid colours with variety of fish of different gradients that add a special touch to the beach.

The Galle beach is a picturesque from the tremendous structural Galle Fort of the fortification that still stands firm with minimal renovations. The Galle port bears a history from the 1400 BC for its popularity in exports of spices and the strategic placement along the silk route.

This town was at the zenith during the Dutch colonial period who built the acclaimed largest standing fortification in Asia making it a UNESCO world heritage site. The buildings within the vicinity of the fort still portrays a vibe of the ancients 3 to 4 centuries old culture which was a place complete with schools, hospitals, Museum, Religious places of worship, lighthouses and so much more. The modern-day era would still adopt to the old structures with many food joints, Hotels, and boutiques that sell a variety of souvenirs and jewellery as well.

Weligama Beach

The Weligama beach again is a beach loved by surfers specially for the beginners. The beach lies about 166 Km from Colombo now easily accessible by the Highway. Away from the city life is this small village of Weligama (which translates to Sand Village). The lustrous beach if a spectacle to watch the sunrise and the setting.

The best time to visit this beach specially for the activities would be from October to May, probable the dry seasons, although the other times may also be ideal.
